About this site
Hi, and welcome.
Open Sourced Banking is an independent publication launched in March 2026 by FinRank. We write about what is actually happening inside financial institutions. The shifts shaping the industry. The technologies worth paying attention to. The operational realities behind the headlines. And the decisions leaders and teams are navigating as they try to grow, adapt, and serve people well.
A lot of that will include AI, but not in the vague, recycled way the topic usually gets covered. We care more about what institutions are actually doing, where the friction is, and which ideas hold up under pressure.
We will also write about how lessons from fintechs and other industries translate — or don't — into the realities of a regulated institution. And about vendor relationships: how to evaluate them, what good ones actually look like, and where institutions tend to give up too much leverage too early.
The people behind the work stay at the center. The teams using the tools, the leaders setting direction, the operators figuring out what change looks like on the ground.
The goal is simple: useful, grounded writing worth your time.
